Getting Those Family Photos Out of the Shoebox and Into Your Life

June 22nd, 2008 by paqsfinnon

By Lisa Koosis Once upon a time, family photos ended up in shoeboxes or maybe, for the ultra-organized, within the pages of a photo album, collecting dust. How easy it is to forget precious pictures when they’re out of sight. These days, particularly with the coming-of-age of the digital camera, there are many more things you can do with those family photos. So don’t stuff them in a box where they’ll remain unseen and unorganized. Instead, why not check out some great ways to get your favorite family photos seen. Many photo processing labs offer special services that go far beyond turning your yearly family portrait into a Christmas card. Now you can get such things as calendars created from your photographs, or putting your photos on mugs. If you’ve gone digital — or if you have a scanner hooked up to your computer — you can even order many of these things, and much, much more, online at places like Snapfish and Cafepress. All you’ll need to do is upload your photo, or photos, of choice, and select the merchandise you wish to purchase. The choices are many, from Christmas ornaments to wooden boxes, from tee-shirts to tote bags. For those who are more adventurous and/or creative, there are a number of creative do-it-yourself options for photographs as well. If you check out either your local craft store or office supply store, you’ll often find a section dedicated to special photo papers. For example, you can purchase a special kind of canvas that can be run through a printer. If you have photo editing software on your home PC, you can use special effects to turn your photo into a watercolor, and print it out on canvas to be hung in your home. You can also purchase transfer paper that will allow you to print your photo on your home printer and then transfer it, using no more than a hot iron and a towel, to tee-shirts or tote bags or any other cotton-based fabric. It’s easy and it’s a great way to bring your favorite photos to life. But what if you’re not interested in more clutter? Well why not upload your photos to a photo-sharing website — your favorite search engine will turn up more than a few — and share your photos with family and friends all over the world? Many photo editing software also comes with a slideshow option which allows you to view your photos as a slideshow right on your computer screen. You can often email the slideshows as well, so that other family members and friends can enjoy it. Or why not set them up as a screensaver for your computer. You can update and change them whenever you feel like a change. Truly, the options for your photos are as limitless as your creativity. So don’t stuff those photos into an old shoebox. Transform them into something usable and wonderful, something that will be seen and enjoyed on a regular basis. Lisa is an author on http://www.Writing.Com/ which is a site for Poetry. Biz 101, How to Save Money

June 19th, 2008 by paqsfinnon

By Keith Londrie Ever feel like youre short on cash? How would you like to learn how to save what you earn? Todays average consumer is way too focused on spending, and not focused enough on saving. In Money to Be Made Online, youll learn some of the ways you can save money while doing business. If you fit into the category of not rich, before you can go on that wonderful vacation, or buy a new house, you need to save up some cold hard cash. Nothing is better than money well spent some say. Well I think nothing is better than money well saved. Before you can spend wisely, you have to have some good savings. So whats the secret to saving money? Im going to outline a few simple tricks that if followed, will leave some extra cash each and every month. Why is it that people are always spending more than they earn? Because theyre in the business of helping other people save money. Thats right, theyre providing the retirement funds for the debt collecter, or credit card executive. First, I want to let you know where some of your money goes, besides when it goes down the drain. Most people forget completely about their money after it leaves their pocket. Money isnt just a piece of paper or numbers on a screen. For the purpose of this article imagine that money is a type of energy, like electricity. Like electricity, most people dont think or care where it comes from, or where it goes, and how its transferred from place to place. Each time you use electricity, or transfer it to another place, you lose some of its potential. Most appliances dont use 100% of the potential energy available, maybe in the future but not currently. When you buy something, taxes are taken out, plus the middle mens fees, and then profit for the top of the pyramid. The first thing you should do is become aware of WHERE your money goes. By thinking of where money comes from, and ends up will open your mind into new avenues of perception. You have to fight your way out of the consumer box and create a new box, with a new label, that youre comfortable. Its good to think outside the box, for people who live in boxes they didnt create themselves. But when you create your own box, when you design your own life and are finally free from all debt, worry, and create your own experiences, then I suggest you think inside that box instead! So now practice thinking this in everyday life. Where is my money going? Imagine all the little middle men in between, and then maybe youll respect money a little more. Youll realize how big and industrious the world actually is. After youve reached this stage of awareness you should be more motivated, and ready to seriously save some money. By saving money in this state, you might realize how important that one little dollar of profit is. When multiplied by a good product and millions of consumers, youve just made a million dollars. If youre ready to start saving some money, be ready to follow these simple tasks, and expect some extra cash! First, you need to be organized. Saving money is not just about being cheap, but its also about management. You must organize well! Most successful people are great at saving because theyre natural organizers, and when they make it big they get a secretary. After a while these tasks become natural, and dont feel like a bother at all, so keep it up and after a while youll get a hang of it. Organizing your cash flow is essential. Everywhere you go, carry a note book, small note pad, or a PDA if you have one. Most PDAs are compatible with finance software, so buy some or find a free version. DO IT NOW! This is the most important aspect of saving money, you first need to know where its going! So for the first week, I want you to do two simple things. Every single thing you spend money on, write down the date, the cost, where, and how you felt. At the end of the day create another separate sheet with a total of amount spent, and list all the things you can do without. Now try to think of where your money went, and imagine the process it took to make the products you bough. Did you purchase gas? There are lots of things needed to get gas into the country, so imagine the process and your mind will open! After one week, take a look at all the data youve collected. Dont do this review until a full weeks data has been collected! Determine what was essential and what you can do without. Take your daily essential and total them up. Look where you can eliminate needless expenses! One of the things you can do, are follow the guidelines in Money to Be Made Online. Follow the experience of seasoned veterans, and save money for your business today! Exotic Flower Arrangements

June 15th, 2008 by paqsfinnon

By Ken Marlborough Beautiful and colorful exotic plants add a special touch to your flower arrangements at home, garden, wedding, or banquet. If you want to add a splash of color to your flower arrangements, make use of the wild and exotic flowers such as heliconia, lotuses, birds of paradise, orchids, ginger, and palm. In modern gardens often populated by roses and zinnias, wildflowers can be considered exotic as well because they grow wild in wide, open spaces. These flowers may look simple but they add a graceful flair to flower arrangements. Wildflowers are manageable to plant and they also possess a resistance to diseases, pests, and harsh climates, as well. They can survive in different soil types such as clay, sandy, nutrient poor soil, and practically even at no soil at all. Since wildflowers are not common to most people, such flower arrangements are unique and may come off as unusual. The best way to acquire the beauty of the wildflowers is to create a garden of wildflowers. The basic way to grow a wildflower garden is to sow seeds by scattering them on a clear and well-prepared ground. There should be no competition with other grasses and weeds so that they can grow fully. To prepare the garden, tap of the seeds, water the growing plants, and pull out weeds. Growing wildflowers from seeds is a more practical and economical way of acquiring them than buying matured ones. However, one disadvantage of such procedure is the long time requirement of germination and maturation. With wildflowers at hand, you can make exotic flower arrangements anytime you want. You do not need to order from your florist or online flower shops. Wildflowers do not need complicated arrangements to set them off. You can get a handful of wildflowers from your garden and put them inside an empty milk bottle. If you want to make them into a bouquet, you can simply get another handful and tie a colorful string around the stems. Flower Arrangements provides detailed information on Birthday Flower Arrangements, Christmas Flower Arrangements, Dried Flower Arrangements, Flower Arrangements and more. Email Marketing - Tips On Adapting To Small Screens

June 1st, 2008 by paqsfinnon

By Barry J Byers You may know the basics of a good email marketing campaign. Get customer buy-in, write an effective subject line, make your point quickly, and so on. But have you ever thought about how your email marketing messages perform on a small screen? If not, you should. Heres why: The popularity of handheld devices, like PDAs and smart phones, has exploded over the past few years. Busy people often check their email on the go, deciding at a glance which messages to keep and which ones to discard. The preview pane, available in some email software, is often used to filter messages. If you dont get a readers attention in that small pane, your message will likely end up in the trash bin. If you use email marketing, you must consider the effects of small screens when designing your messages. How Small Screens Can Affect Email Marketing Email marketing and email newsletters are usually planned for a standard desktop screen and not for the tiny screens of a handheld device. To ensure your email marketing message succeeds on a small screen, you have to adapt your campaign. 1. Identification Email marketing campaigns, whether aimed at the small screen or not, must be clear about who the message is from and why it is being sent. Make sure it is your business name that appears in the From line and that your Subject line is clear and succinct. 2. Images - The impact of images and ads will be lost on a handheld screen, which may not display the depth of color of a standard computer monitor. On a handheld or in a preview pane, graphics might be blocked, depending on the settings of the email software. Ensure that your email marketing service sends your message in both a text-only and HTML format, so that users get their message in the right format. If you must use graphics, keep them small. Lastly, do not depend on graphics to get your message across. An HTML message should convey its meaning even without images. 3. Download Times Large graphics can lead to increased download times, a source of frustration for users. Download times are another reason to minimize graphics or skip them altogether. 4. Above the Fold As with general email marketing campaigns, those adapted to handheld devices should ensure that all important information appears at the very top. Your call to action or special offer must appear above the fold, to use newspaper lingo, in order to entice users to open your email. To ensure the most important part of your message gets through in a preview pane, place the critical information at the top and left of the message. 5. Concise Content Regardless of where your email marketing messages are being read, concise content is crucial. Do not waste peoples time with lots of extraneous information. Make your point quickly by being direct about what you are offering and how it will help the reader. 6. Testing Always test your messages in a variety of environments. Ensure your copy is compelling, whether or not it is accompanied by images. There are many handheld devices out there, making it difficult to test the message for those applications, but try to run a few tests whenever possible. Some device manufacturers offer simulators for testing email. Check with the manufacturer or ask your email marketing service about testing for handheld devices. A Russian Bride: Why Having One Could Drastically Improve Your Life

May 29th, 2008 by paqsfinnon

By Olga Lebekov Men are interested in marrying a Russian bride for many reasons. First, a Russian bride will typically be very beautiful. Because of this, they are generally highly regarded. A Russian bride will generally try hard to keep herself beautiful (even after marriage) it doesnt only come naturally. Because of their upbringing, these women are very focused on their physical appearance. They are concerned about dressing themselves nicely, and making sure that they look presentable all the time. They stay on top of their appearance weight, hair, clothing, and mannerisms. Many of these ladies were brought up in a very traditional role. They balance the needs of their husband with their personal needs. Many embrace the responsibilities of being both a wife and mother. What is sometimes thought of as old fashioned to Western women is normal to a Russian bride. They typically take care of a lot of the domestic tasks cooking, cleaning, dishes, laundry, etc., especially if not working full time (the situation is different otherwise, naturally). Most Russian women are highly educated. Many of them have college degrees (in fact, Russia has the highest educational level in the world, with over 40% holding a college degree). They have an extreme interest in remaining intellectual reading books, going to museums, and visiting the theatre. They usually enjoy talking about deep subjects. Philosophy is one of their mandatory classes in school. A Russian bride is able to easily adapt to new environments, given their intellect and eagerness to constantly learn. A lot of Russian brides know multiple languages, and excited to keep learning more. A Russian bride is typically very romantic and sensual. She is also generally very feminine, healthy, passionate, and thankful. Olga Lebekov is a Russian woman who coaches men on how to have successful partnerships with Russian women. God is Not Like Santa Claus; We are Not Instructed to Worship that Fat Guy in the Red Suit

May 26th, 2008 by paqsfinnon

By Lance Winslow Many atheists will use the Santa Clause debate when confronted by a person of faith who attempts to witness to them. They will say something like; I do not believe in Santa Claus. And the Christian will say something like; Well, neither do I. But in further thinking on this concept the Fairy Tale of Santa Claus is very similar to the Biblical Story of Santa Claus. And we often say he is a God Fearing Man, meaning he is a man of faith and scripture. Many will say the Fairy Tale of Santa Claus is not an evil thing to teach kids and the Biblical Religion helps humans remain moral. Ah, but we teach people to fear both and it is basically a method of control. We teach kids to fear Santa Claus to get them to be good to get a free gift, no not of eternal salvation, kids are more immediate in their needs, not such long term planners. So instead of eternal salvation, we bribe them with toys to be good; “oh you better watch out, you better not pout, you better not cry I am telling you why, Santa Claus is coming to town” to basically give you free toys? And Religion is the same, be good in your life or go to hell? But I ask why does someone need to be scared to be good, why not do what is fair for all concerned because it is the right thing to do? See the point on this? I certainly hope this article is of interest and that is has propelled thought. The goal is simple; to help you in your quest to be the best in 2007. I thank you for reading my many articles on diverse subjects, which interest you. “Lance Winslow” - If you have innovative thoughts and unique perspectives, come think with Lance; http://www.WorldThinkTank.net/. Jesus and George Break Bread

May 14th, 2008 by paqsfinnon

By Ed Howes “George, this is Jesus. Remain quiet and I will take just a moment of your time now. We will dine at your house tonight. Please set a table for two. I will provide the food and drink. You are the decider - I am the provider.” At a suitably small table for two, appropriately set for a visiting head of state, the very first time, Jesus sits where He can keep an eye on the door and begins unloading a full picnic basket. George thoughtfully chooses to sit to Jesus’ left as it would seem confrontational for him to sit opposite and it would be arrogant to sit on Jesus’ right, though the temptation was great. “George, I am dining with you this evening in hopes we can become closer. Please move your chair as close to me as you can. So I can look into your eyes and you mine. So we can share breath with each other. Thank You.” “I know you understand when I say turn the other cheek, I am not saying to be defenseless under attack. I am saying do not respond to every challenge to honor. Yes Lord, I understand that. “And when I say agree with your adversary quickly, while you are in the way with him, you know doing so promotes new friendships and reduces fear, mistrust and violence.” Yes Lord. “I have said: Love God —Love your neighbor —Love the stranger —Love your enemies. Who have I excluded?” Evil doers? “Has our father not publicly decreed He creates the evil and He makes the rain to fall upon the evil and the just.” Lord, I must have missed that part about Father creating evil. “Yes, you have missed it and this is apparent to all who live and did not miss it. Do you know why Father creates evil?” To punish sinners? “To correct them George.” It isn’t working. “I know. That is why I AM now here and you are no where. I say agree with your adversary quickly and you say we don’t talk to evil, which is true enough. This is terribly wrong headed, since we know the source and reason for it. In fact, it is the WE, I have the problem with. You have led millions to believe you and I are working together. Because you cannot fool all the people, all the time, many know you worship me with your lips but your heart is far from me.” Yes Lord. “You know I have made a conditional freedom covenant with my disciples. If they continue in my words, they are indeed my disciples, they shall know me and I shall make them free. You go about telling people your blood and violence will make them free. Do you truly believe that?” I did briefly, but not any more. “Why then, have you not repented?” (Long pause) I would have to say it is because of the stress of my work and the expectations of my team and enemies. If I appear weak, everything I have accomplished will be for nothing. “What is it you have accomplished?” I have helped my people feel more secure. I have empowered people who have helped me and my people. I have made many people wealthy. I have driven tyrants into hiding. I have provided new opportunities for hundreds of millions of people. “Including evil doers?” Not intentionally. “Intentions do count and you have scored a few points on that account. I suppose if you change intentions, all you have accomplished will be for nothing.” The possibility worries me. “If you will continue in my words, you shall be my disciple and I will make it come out well. If you do not continue in my words, I will mock you, destroy your land and your people.” Yes Lord. I will be your disciple. “You would not lie to me?” Never, Lord. “We shall see. Good night George.” Good night Lord. Thank you for your help. “You left me no other choice.” Ed Howes sought and found, knocked and entered. Now he sees things differently. Antidepressant Comparisons

May 9th, 2008 by paqsfinnon

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Max_Bellamy] Max Bellamy MAOIs act by inhibiting monoamine oxidase, a complex enzyme system that metabolizes excess serotonin and epinephrine. It holds the negativity of inducing potential life-threatening problems and therefore cannot be used in patients with congestive cardiac failure or in those with a history of liver disease. It can be dangerous for those who are hypersensitive to its ingredients. It should be used only when other available Antidepressant medications fail as treatment options for depression. TCAs act mainly by inhibiting the reuptake of both norepinephrine and serotonin. Though the type of side effects experienced by the patient due to TCAs or MAOIs are many times similar, the frequency of these side effects is much less in the case of TCAs. Thus, TCAs enjoy a better rate of acceptance by the patients. The SSRIs act by inhibiting the serotonin reuptake and are considered the most popular, effective and safe prescription medications. Prozac, a drug of this class, has shown significant success in the treatment of depression and prevention of suicide. It exhibits less potential side effects as compared to TCAs and MAOIs, and is well tolerated. It should be noted that these three therapeutic groups share the similarity of relieving depressive symptoms in the same period of time (1 to 4 weeks). The SSRIs, because of their benefit of safety and tolerability, enjoy the stand of first-line agents. The TCAs are much cheaper than SSRIs and are preferred by patients who are unresponsive to other Antidepressants. The SNRIs better serve a patient of depression by aiming to keep both serotonin and norepinephrine at the right level. The drug bupropion (novel Antidepressant) is unique in its efficiency to inhibit the reuptake of dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine.
